Top 5 Indian Weddings

After burrowing the internet for hours, I realised this one deserved a blog.

Here is what I feel are the top 5 Indian Weddings of all time.

5. Mallika Reddy and Siddharth Reddy

There is a never ending debate between North India versus South India and honestly, I do not want it to end. I feel it keeps our rather laid-back population competitive.

This one goes out to the Billionaire GV Krishna Reddy’s beautiful granddaughter, Mallika Reddy to Siddharth Reddy, son of Indu Group's Indukuri Syam Prasad Reddy. I suspect this was more of a business arrange marriage you know, same caste multi-millionaire backgrounds, you get the idea.

Here is a little video, I found on YouTube for the wedding.

A host of Telugu filmstars, directors and producers, corporate India’s Mukesh Ambani, ministers, MPs, chief ministers of several states and political leaders were present.

4. Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria

Now as much as I am against our politicians spending our hard earned tax money on lavish weddings, this controversial wedding does make it to the list.
Congress leader Kanwar Singh Tanwar's son Lalit married an ex-MLA from Sohna, Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria's daughter Yogita at Jaunapur village in Haryana.

From gifting a chopper to inviting every Gujjar in town, Jaunapuria and Tanwar made sure that the wedding of their scions remains etched in people's memory for years to come.  But it's not just the common man who was invited. According to close associates of Kanwar Singh Tanwar, more than ten Bollywood celebrities including Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai were at the wedding.

3. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra

Raj Kundra ditched his wife will managing Shilpa’s production house. He co-holds the IPL team, Rajasthan Royals with Shilpa and is the owner of a major business Enterprise which trades in precious stones in Dubai.

Now this wedding got a lot of press and what I liked about the wedding was the attention to detail. You can say I am picky but I seem to see it as a path to perfection.
I like the fact that everything from a Wedding Invitation card, to the wedding ring, to the clothes, entertainment was all meticulously planned.

2. Vanisha Mittal and Arvind Bhatia

This was not just one of the best weddings of all time; this was the most expensive wedding to be ever held. Lakshmi Mittal is a man in possession of astronomical wealth and he splurged vulgarly when it came to his daughter’s wedding.

It featured 1,000 guests from all over the world, 20-page-thick silver-cased invitation cards and five days of events staged in some of the France's most famous settings. Mr Mittal has hired the 17th century Vaux le Vicomte, described as the "finest chateau and garden" in France, for the marriage of 23-year-old Vanisha, who has a degree from London's School of Oriental and African Studies, and her banker fiancé.

1.    Vikram Chatwal and Priya Sachdeva

Vikram Chatwal was named one of the world’s most eligible bachelors by a BBC Television Program. His wedding is known to be the 3rd most expensive till date with a cost of 20 million US dollars which spread over three cities in India.

Vikram Chatwal was born to an Indian-American businessman, Sant Singh Chatwal who is the founder of Hampshire Hotels and Resorts. Vikram, in 2006, tied the knot to an Indian model, Priya Sachdev. It took about ten days for the ceremonies to be completed and each one had an exquisite theme. On 13th February, the couple had their first wedding ceremony. The Hindu wedding took place on February 18th followed by a Sikh wedding the next day. The celebrity guest list couldn’t get bigger and royal than this. It included names like Bill Clinton, Lakshmi Mittal, Naomi Campbell and several Indian Celebs; all transported on private chartered jets.

What I really liked about the wedding was the mix of class and tradition.
